Ingredients:
- 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers (also called flor de Jamaica)
- 4 cups water (for boiling)
- 3–4 cups cold water (for dilution)
- ½–¾ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- Optional: slices of lime, orange, or mint leaves for garnish
Instructions:
- Boil: In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the dried hibiscus flowers.
- Steep: Remove from heat and let the flowers steep for 15–20 minutes.
- Strain: Strain the tea into a pitcher to remove the flowers.
- Sweeten: Add sugar while the tea is still warm and stir until dissolved.
- Dilute & Chill: Add 3–4 cups of cold water (depending on your taste) and refrigerate until chilled.
- Serve: Pour over ice and garnish with lime slices or fresh mint if desired.
Tips:
- For a tangier tea, steep longer or add a splash of lime juice.
- Can also be served warm in cooler months.
