Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers (also called flor de Jamaica)
  • 4 cups water (for boiling)
  • 3–4 cups cold water (for dilution)
  • ½–¾ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • Optional: slices of lime, orange, or mint leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Boil: In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the dried hibiscus flowers.
  2. Steep: Remove from heat and let the flowers steep for 15–20 minutes.
  3. Strain: Strain the tea into a pitcher to remove the flowers.
  4. Sweeten: Add sugar while the tea is still warm and stir until dissolved.
  5. Dilute & Chill: Add 3–4 cups of cold water (depending on your taste) and refrigerate until chilled.
  6. Serve: Pour over ice and garnish with lime slices or fresh mint if desired.

Tips:

  • For a tangier tea, steep longer or add a splash of lime juice.
  • Can also be served warm in cooler months.
